DJANUARY: At some time during this month the 246th Field Artillery Regiment of the U.S. 29th Infantry Division is called into active service to relieve the 116th Infantry Regiment of the 29th Division of duty concerning the ongoing strike by workers of the Dan River Mills in Danville, Virginia. MARCH: On March 24 of this year the Commanding General of the Hawaiian Department of the United States Army writes a letter to the Commandant of the United States Fourteenth Naval District in which he says, among other things, that the Pearl Harbor naval base would likely be one of the first targets attacked by Japan if she should go to war with the United States.
