  •  DECEMBER:    By the end of this year rights for  no less than sixty townships of six miles square have been granted by the British governor, Benning Wentworth, of New Hampshire colony. These townships are all on the west side of the Connecticut River. Eighteen townships are also granted on the east side of the river.  (Source:  Vermont by Choice, by Bertha S.
